I have always been fascinated by the 1920's.
I don't really know why, I think my first experience with the 20's was watching The Godfather Part II.
I really liked seeing Little Italy and I enjoyed the grime of the streets.
I liked picturing myself walking through some of the open air markets, hearing the accents of the grocers.
To me the 1920's seemed like a more simple time when people were a little bit more awed by the power of the human mind and things still seemed fresh with optimism for the future.
I get sick of the constant pessimism of our present.
It makes me sad to think that in less than a century we may have done irreparable harm to our environment and the moral attitude of our world.
Before the 1920's World War 1 made us feel insignificant with the amount of death and destruction it ravaged upon the citizens of the world. The flapper generation and the "roaring twenties" resulted out of the destruction.
The Twenties, to me, seem like the last gasp and hurrah of a society that had finally figured out how to destroy itself. It was a decade of excess and devil may care attitudes, but it also shows the power of the human mind in a way that gives hope to us all that we may be able to think our way out of the mess we have created through intelligent thinking and a vision for the future.
The twenties gave us many entrepreneurs who forged their way into the consciousness of the world with their vision for a better and easier life. They did this through hard work and good old elbow grease.
It is time for our generation to help repair the damage done by our forefathers, through hard work, intelligent thinking, and cooperation.
The 1920's to me gives us all hope that we can change our world if we only have the vision to change. Please check out my website at 1920's Fashion and Music to see how the vision and vitality of the 1920's changed the world of fashion and music forever.
