Extortion Marketing may sound rather severe, however, it is only intended to address one simple fact. A seemingly unfair advantage regarding Internet marketing. To achieve this status, one has to firstly understand the very nature of the complexities of the Internet, what works, what doesn't work and most importantly, to conduct your actions with integrity (Don't Spam, ever!)

To achieve a fairly large sphere of influence on the Internet, it takes time. Lots of time. Primarily getting your websites up and running with valuable automated services that work, are free or very inexpensive and then getting them listed in Yahoo (most important) as well as all the other search engines is the first step. It helps if you have been at this since the beginning of the Internet and that you have many hundreds of web domains to build all of these unique services on. Furthermore, it is also important that having thousands of sites on hundreds of domains also be unique and regularly submitted to all of the search engines. This is the first step.

It is also important to have many FFA systems that can be submitted to regularly from the massive FFA submission services found on the Internet. The same goes for Classified ad sites. But, even more important, these systems must verify all submissions before the benefit of capturing the email addresses for future marketing can be achieved legitimately. An added feature to this market (FFAs and Classifieds) is making them self replicate and give them away for free. This makes your sites appear on other web sites and builds your awareness factor.

It continues: You must have many different newsletter sites. These build loyal subscribers. An added plus to this is to make many gateway pages to these type of sites and list these in the search engines.

Another highly viral product is the self replicating PDF ebook. Write thousands of these type of ebooks, put your URL in them and give them away on hundreds of web sites.

The Long Road Toward Success

When I first started in network marketing I made every mistake, seriously every mistake. I paid too much money to the company I got involved in, I spent too much money on terrible leads, and even with those "great" contacts I couldn't make a phone call to these outrageously expensive leads without sounding like a deperate salesman. Well guess what? My business floundered, and I lost my shirt. Is that a surprise to you?

It surpised me--I thought I was going to get rich. Now I realize I had failed before I'd even got started. More on that later. After my business floundered I found myself without money, without a job, and without many friends (I was part of the NFL Club-No Friends Left) because I had pitched them all about how I was going to get rich and trying to convince them that they needed to join me so they could get rich too. Well, as I write this, I'm glad they didn't join me at that point in my business career because instead of just trying to avoid me until I was successful they would hate me for scamming them out of their money in one of my "get rich schemes." My intentions were good in getting involved in business for myself, but I had no skills in running a successful online Network Marketing business. Does this remind you of yourself and your business at all?

Building a home-based business is not something that came intuitively to me from the start. I didn't know much about computers, I didn't know anything about prospecting, creating leads or attracting people to contact me about my business opportunity. So if you're anything like I was you are struggling with not having enough people to talk to right? The change in my business came with the realization that I would never financially get ahead or even break even if I kept doing what I was being told to by my upline: buying leads from Leads Brokers--this is the most expensive and ineffective way to fund a home based business and obviously the return on your investment is terrible especially for the folks who are just getting started and have few skills. Creating your own leads is truely the easiest and most effective way of funding your business from the start because:

2. You learn what effective marketing looks like and this is something you can teach to your downline.
3. Regardless of what company you represent effective online marketing will work for you if you switch companies or develop multiple-streams of income.
4. You have people contacting you eager to talk and eager to buy; rather than having to make cold- calls and follow up calls to prospects who are rarely interested in your company, your product, and definitely not interested in YOU as a person.
5. You can modify your marketing techniques to bring in the right type of people; people with whom you relate to and are motivated to build an online business.
6. You brand yourself as a leader and become what is known as a "heavy hitter" or guru in this industry.

How Arnold Schwarzenegger Can Help Your Business

That's right, he can. Think about it.

Arnold has successfully reinvented himself more times than any other person I can think of. You are probably thinking, "But what does reinvention have to do with MY business?" you might be asking, to which I reply, "Everything."

There is no luck in business. Everything happens because of what YOU do to draw customers and associates to YOU. Nothing else works, because nothing else matters. YOU are responsible for your success in this industry and YOU are responsible for your failures too.

It's been said a million times that if you treat your
business like a hobby it will pay you like a hobby. If you start thinking like a CEO you will become the CEO your business needs. Thinking like a CEO isn't hard, it just takes a little time and commitment. Start tracking your expenditures, start tracking your ad campaigns, find out what's working and what isn't. Focus on what works and cut out what doesn't.

Furthermore, as you begin to see success in your business invest in yourself more not less. Do you think I stopped buying resources like books and courses as I started seeing results in my business. Heck no, I bought more. I learned more. Because I knew the more valuable you become to others the more respect you will command and thus, attract good people to you and your business and they will want to follow you because you are a leader. Leaders are in short supply in this industry, but you MUST become one if you want to enjoy success.

The Most Important Step

Success. What a great word, what a great goal. But what is it? In my next few posts I'm going to go into my definition of success, how to achieve it in Network Marketing and Multi-level-Marketing.

When I got involved in network marketing I know I fell into every trap this industry had devised, I bought everything, hook-line-sinker; I bought the hype first, then in rapid succession I bought outragously expensive leads, domains, I made cold calls to terrible leads, I chased and chased and hounded people until they wouldn't pick up the phone anymore. I didn't know what was wrong with me, I actually thought it was me (and partially it was 'cause I really was a pest, but I wanted to get rich so . . .) until the point where I couldnt pick up the phone, and I couldn't believe in the product that I had chained my future to.

I think most people get into this industry with good intentions (I'm not talking about the ones that pay for a distributorship and then fall off the face of the earth), but the industry quicky gobbles them up with all the different money leechers most uplines advise their downlines to pursue (expensive leads, ad campaigns) or breaks them with rejection. With my own downline I almost want to keep them in a deprivation chamber until we have their MINDSET down pat and they understand the purpose behind what we're trying to accomplish. And I think that is truly the difference between success and failure in this industry. Sure there are talented people out there: the natural closers, the retired business execs, lawyers, Doctors, etc. but really when you break it down their success comes from their mindset--most people haven't been battle tested like this industry will test you when you get into it, the skills come with time and experience, but the mindset is harder to come by. It can be developed over time, but more than time it takes mentorship, and the individual's belief in themself that they can succeed in business.
