When I first started in network marketing I made every mistake, seriously every mistake. I paid too much money to the company I got involved in, I spent too much money on terrible leads, and even with those "great" contacts I couldn't make a phone call to these outrageously expensive leads without sounding like a deperate salesman. Well guess what? My business floundered, and I lost my shirt. Is that a surprise to you?
It surpised me--I thought I was going to get rich. Now I realize I had failed before I'd even got started. More on that later. After my business floundered I found myself without money, without a job, and without many friends (I was part of the NFL Club-No Friends Left) because I had pitched them all about how I was going to get rich and trying to convince them that they needed to join me so they could get rich too. Well, as I write this, I'm glad they didn't join me at that point in my business career because instead of just trying to avoid me until I was successful they would hate me for scamming them out of their money in one of my "get rich schemes." My intentions were good in getting involved in business for myself, but I had no skills in running a successful online Network Marketing business. Building a home-based business is not something that came intuitively to me from the start. I didn't know much about computers, I didn't know anything about prospecting, creating leads or attracting people to contact me about my business opportunity. I now generate immensely better leads than I was buying for about 1/20th the price. That means I can talk to 20 people who usually call me first, and do this for pennies. Creating your own leads is truely the easiest and most effective way of funding your business from the start because:
1. You learn how Internet marketing works.
2. You learn what effective marketing looks like and this is something you can teach to your downline.
3. Regardless of what company you represent effective online marketing will work for you if you switch companies or develop multiple-streams of income.
4. You have people contacting you eager to talk and eager to buy; rather than having to make cold- calls and follow up calls to prospects who are rarely interested in your company, your product, and definitely not interested in YOU as a person.
5. You can modify your marketing techniques to bring in the right type of people; people with whom you relate to and are motivated to build an online business.
6. You brand yourself as a leader and become what is known as a "heavy hitter" or guru in this industry.
